Chabad responded to the desparate situation in New Orleans by co-ordinating with rescue workers, and sending teams of Rabbincal students to help with the evacuation. Evacuees were comforted by the presence of the young Rabbis and by Chabad's assurance that they would be transported to the location of friends or family members. President Bush singled out Chabad's effort in this area.
