Sometime during the mid 1990s Julie Grant Meyer, a prominent member of the New Orleans Jewish community approached the Rabbis of Chabad and expressed her interest in developing a course or seminar about a topic that had recently begun to fascinate her, Kabbala. And so the Kabbala Seminar was born. After several successful years of being led by local instructors it was decided that a lecturer would be imported for the, by-then, annual seminar. Each year the Kabbala Seminar draws many people, from serious students of Jewish mysticism to those curious about Kabbala as a result of its popularity with celebrities.

Over the years the Kabbala Seminar stage has been graced by the following popular speakers:
Rabbi Laibl Wolf of the Human Development Institute, author of Practical Kabbala, who lectured in two seminars. Once on Achieving Balance Through Kabbala and Meditation. The next year's topic was Angels, Souls and Dreams.

Rabbi David Aaron of Isralight, author of Seeing G-d and Endless Light, on Secrets to the Real You.

Rabbi Simon Jacobson of the Meaningful Life Center, author of Toward a Meaningful Life, on Dancing with G-d, the Ecstasy of Mysticism.

Mrs. Rivkah Slonim of Chabad of Binghamton, author of Total Immersion and Bread and Fire; Jewish Women Finding G-d In Everyday Life, on He, She, It - Male and Female Imagery in Kabbala.

Rabbi Dovber Pinson of the Iyyun Center, author of many works on Kabbala on Reincarnation and Judaism.
